My life has traveled along many roads. Often those roads were curvy and I
couldn’t see around the next bend. Other times the roads were very rocky and full of potholes. But God has always guided me–even when I felt he was nowhere nearby. I was raised in a very liberal, pro-choice Catholic family in California and have been blessed to have been led onto the correct road following the magisterium of the Catholic church. My husband and I have been married almost twenty-four years and have six children who now range in ages from twenty-two to eleven. Before we had children, I taught second grade and have been a stay-at-home mom since my oldest was born. We have homeschooled all our children through most of their school years. Currently, we are only homeschooling our two youngest. Our three oldest are in college and our sixteen-year-old is at the local high school. Sometimes our lives have been very challenging such as when I had two stillbirths in three years or when I had to have major reconstructive surgery on my face due to the removal of skin cancer.
Sometimes the crosses God has asked me to carry have been enormous but he has ALWAYS given me the strength to carry them! I feel like my experiences make me a good speaker to groups because I can relate to many of the hardships of those in my audience. Having taught elementary school and being very involved in my local Toastmaster’s club (a public speaking national organization) I feel confident speaking in front of people.
My goal in speaking to groups is to share my passion and love for God to my audience. I do this by telling stories of the saints and relating them to the topic I am asked to speak about. I share stories from my own life to encourage others and present activities to help participants grow in their faith.
Recently, I started doing storytelling events; sharing stories of the saints and also folktales from around the world. One parent had the following to say about a recent storytelling event I did: “Christine is an excellent talent and fully engages the listeners and their imaginations. I encourage everyone to take your children. They will love it!”
I look forward to working with you to create an unforgettable experience for your audience.
